round-baby-cribsWhile it’s true that some infants prefer the cozy confines of a cradle or bassinette as opposed to a roomier crib, that isn’t a hard and fast rule. In fact, there’s no need to force a newborn to sleep in a cradle for any length of time. If you as a parent can “sell” the crib as a comfortable sleeping environment for your baby right off the bat, the benefits are many. For one thing, you’ll save money by only buying a single piece of furniture.

Round baby cribs are more intimate than traditional rectangular models, and their shape is actually more appealing to a young child. From a safety standpoint, they are also superior as they lack any sharp edges or corners where a baby could slip and become trapped. If you must begin with a cradle or bassinette, it’s still beneficial to make the switch to a round crib after a few months.
